Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko

Russian vampires?

Night Watch by Sergei LukyanenkoI’ve recently started reading The Night Watch trilogy (Night Watch, Day Watch and Twilight Watch).  As a fan of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series by Stieg Larrson, all modern Russian writing intrigues me. (even though his stories are set in Sweden). How can you go wrong with the paranormal underground in Moscow?

Or read my review below:

Russian vampires. And witches, werewolves and other nasty creatures. This is my second read of the Night Watch trilogy, and I enjoyed it as much as the first time. The Night Watch (the good guys) keep tabs on the Day Watch (the bad guys) and the struggle for power and one-upmanship creates lots of tension between the two factions. If you need a fix of dark paranormal set in Moscow, this is the book.

What brought this on, Cheryl?

In which I start posting more often by including book reviews and the ins and outs of my writing life.  I may include other detritus and observations, because being a writer but not blogging on a regular basis is a crime.  Also, New Year’s resolutions. Pesky resolutions.

What book are you reading for the second time (or third, or infinity times?)

Amazon Author’s Page for Cheryl Sterling is Live

Amazon Author's page for Cheryl Sterling is liveMy Amazon Author’s Page is up.  After a kerfluffle, in which Amazon continued to verify my existence from my defunk ex-publisher, my Author’s Page is now live.

This is exciting, because I see all my covers at one place.  My goal is to have one more up by the end of the year!  Only four more scenes to write on the first draft of The Dearly Departed Dating Service.

All the best,

A new writers group will keep my goals on track.

New Writers Group

A new writers group will keep my goals on track.
I’m in the process of forming a new writer’s group in Kona, Hawaii.  About time, eh?  I should say my husband sneakily posted some Craigslist ads and I started getting phone calls.  I admire his concern for my social and writing needs. 🙂

Currently, we have eight (8) members on Meetup.com (search for Kona Writers Group and join.  It’s free).  Our next meeting is Sept. 21.  Details are on Meetup.

In the meantime, I’m now Empress-elect of a small critique group.  Interestingly, none of them write fiction.  A new perspective?

Does this mean I have to write on a regular basis?

As if that’s not enough, Continue reading New Writing Group! Yowsers!
