This week’s cool links include fabulous dresses made from books (oooh, I want one), why you need a budget if you’re a self-published writer (I have no idea where my money goes), how to balance parenting and writing (my first writing desk was next to the furnace. My kids wrote RedRum in the concrete wall above the desk), and a plethora of sites you can use to pre-schedule your social media posts. Check it out!
Let’s go to the ball in these dresses made from books
Whoever made these dresses is a genius! Or geniuses. I don’t know exactly where I’d wear them, but when Oprah calls, I’ll start stitching. Aren’t they gorgeous?
How to reduce anxiety in your life with crystals and stones
If you don’t believe in New Age stuff, skip this section. But if you’re suffering from too much anxiety in your life, check out this article on how to calm yourself using crystals and stones. Hey, what can it hurt? I have a bowl of stones I’ve collected over the years beside my writing chair. I think they keep my creative juices flowing.
Why you need a budget if you’re a self-published author
Writers aren’t in the business just to share their work. Okay, we are, but we like to be rewarded as well. Every dollar coming in is a bonus, which means we have to watch our pennies in our marketing budget. Liana breaks down what should be included in your budget, what to do yourself, what to outsource, and why you need a plan. Check out her blog article here.
Are you using an auto-scheduler for your social media?
Hardly anyone knows more about writing and marketing than Joanna Penn. She’s everywhere—on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media. How does she do it?
Auto scheduling! Like me, she uses various social media scheduling tools to load up her content then steps away and lets the wonder of automation make her appear as if she spends every moment online.
Since Hootsuite lowered their queue to thirty pre-scheduled posts, I’ve spread my posts between it and Buffer. I also use Facebook Scheduler for my cherylsterling page.
Do you use an auto-scheduling service?

I’ve tried scheduling social media but I’ve found the conversation rate from Twitter is t really worth the time. I do much better on Pinterest but there aren’t any free Pinterest schedulers and I’m not ready to spend more $$$
