All this reading is making me fat

reading about other cultures makes me fat by trying new recipes

As a writer, I love to read.  As a reader, I love to eat.  Huh?  Bear with me.  I love to read about different times and cultures, and frequently, a meal is mentioned that I know nothing about.  A quick hop onto Google (or Yahoo, or, increasingly, Pinterest) can usually locate a recipe.  If it’s good, I’ll make it.  Hence, all this reading is making me fat.

Some examples?

Figgy Dowdy, which is a British pudding made with rum, raisins and suet.  Suet, in case you don’t know is beef fat.
Bilberry Mucky Mouth Tart, a tart made with apples and bilberries (blueberries).  Naw, nothing fattening about pastry.
Undy Arms Sticky Toffee Pudding.  Come on, it says sticky right in the title.
And Bob Andy Pie, which I though might be a mystical, awesome pie, but it turns out to be a custard pie by any other name.
All this talk is making me hungry.  I wonder if there are any peanut butter cookies left that I made from my mother-in-law’s recipe?

Have you ever made a dish mentioned in a (non cook) book?
